Floor Tiling on the Wirral & Merseyside

Hallways, kitchens, living areas and Victorian-style patterned floors, laid flat and level to last.

A tiled floor gets walked on every day for decades, so it has to be flat, level and properly bonded. Dave lays floor tiles in hallways, kitchens, living rooms and open-plan spaces, from large-format porcelain to intricate Victorian-style patterns.

A Google reviewer said a new tiled floor in their entrance hall "enhanced the whole room". A Checkatrade customer in Aigburth, Liverpool had an "intricate Victorian style hallway" laid and called the work "exemplary". Another had large floor tiles laid through hallways, kitchen and living room in what they called "a big 2 week job".

Most of the work in a good floor happens before the tiles go down: checking the floor is sound, levelling it where needed, and planning the layout so cut tiles sit at the edges rather than in the middle of a doorway. Large-format tiles in particular need a very flat base.

Victorian-style and patterned floors take longer because every piece has to line up with the border and the pattern. They're well worth it in a period hallway.

Price depends on the floor area, the condition of the floor underneath, the tile size and pattern, and how many rooms and doorways the floor runs through. Quotes are free.

Floor Tiling: common questions

How long does it take to tile a floor?

A single hallway or kitchen floor is usually a few days' work. A large job across several rooms can take around two weeks, as one Checkatrade customer's hallways, kitchen and living room did.

Can you lay a Victorian-style hallway floor?

Yes. Dave has laid intricate Victorian-style hallways — a customer in Aigburth, Liverpool described the result as "exemplary".

Does my floor need levelling before tiling?

Sometimes. Dave checks the floor when he quotes and will tell you if it needs levelling first, especially for large-format tiles.
